Tracking printout activity
Who is this article for?
Administrators looking to audit the printout activity in the system.
Administrator permissions are required.
While the system does not support detailed tracking of printouts, such as page counts or printer information, it does provides comprehensive audit trails for document and workflow activities.
This article outlines the capabilities and limitations of the audit trails for documents to help you better monitor activity.
1. Tracking limitations
You are not able to report on the following activities as part of the audit trail:
- Number of pages printed
- Specific page numbers printed
- Printer names or locations
- User roles or departmental affiliations
- Access controls specific to printers
2. Tracking capabilities
You are able to track the following activities as part of the audit trail:
- Workflow field modifications
- Document-related actions (e.g., check-in/check-out, approvals, revisions, retirement events)
- User activity logs
These logs are accessible via the Audit Trail script and provide a comprehensive overview of the document lifecycle, although they do not encompass print-specific activities.
