Clarifying scheduled task control in the Hub Notification Centre
Who is this article for?
Users and Administrators.

Hub and Scheduled Tasks serve different purposes within Ideagen: Hub displays notifications to users, whilst Scheduled Tasks control when automated reminder emails are sent.
Understanding what Hub does
The Hub Notification Centre displays notifications to users, surfacing information about activity and events within the Ideagen platform. However, Hub does not control when automated system tasks run, and it does not trigger or schedule the reminder emails that go out for overdue items such as training.
Understanding what controls overdue training reminder emails
The timing of overdue training reminder emails is controlled entirely within Ideagen Quality Management (Core) by the Scheduled Tasks system. Scheduled Tasks are automated processes that run on the Ideagen Quality Management Core server at defined intervals, deciding when they will run and the range of system objects they affect.
The specific task responsible for sending overdue and approaching-due-date training reminder emails is the Email Reminders action. Its default task name is Ideagen Quality Management Core Email Reminders.
Important: Even if a training item is already overdue, the reminder email will not be sent until the Email Reminders Scheduled Task next runs. To receive more timely notifications, increase the frequency of this task in Administration → Scheduled Tasks.
Comparing Hub and Scheduled Tasks
| Hub Notification Centre | Scheduled Tasks (Core) |
|---|---|
| Displays notifications to users within the Ideagen platform | Runs automated background processes on the server at set intervals |
| Does not control overdue training emails | Controls overdue training emails via the Email Reminders action |
| Configured in Hub settings | Configured in Administration → Scheduled Tasks in Ideagen Quality Management |
| Modified by Hub administrators | Modified by users with the Scheduled Tasks Administration permission in Core |
Tip: To adjust how frequently overdue training reminder emails are sent, go to Administration → Scheduled Tasks in Ideagen Quality Management, find the
Ideagen Quality Management Core Email Reminderstask, and edit its Frequency and Next Execution Date settings.
Note: The Scheduled Tasks Administration permission is required to view or modify the Scheduled Tasks administration page in Ideagen Quality Management.
