Importing Standards
Who is this article for?
Users that need to bulk import Standards.
Standards administration permission required.
Import Standard lets you add multiple Organisation / Standard / Description records at once by uploading a spreadsheet, instead of entering each one manually.
Important: This article relates to importing Standards in bulk in version 2026.9.0.0 onwards.
Downloading the template
Get a blank Excel template with the required columns already set up. This template is available directly from the Standards screen.
Note: The import template is for adding new standards. Exporting a copy of your existing standards list is not available yet — tell us if this would be useful to you.
Completing the template
Add your Organisation, Standard, Description, and any other required details to the template.
Uploading the completed file
To upload your completed file:
- From the Standards screen, click Upload Standards.
- Select or drag and drop your completed file.
Ideagen Quality Management Core adds each new standard from the file and re-enables any matching standard that was previously disabled.
Important: Only users with Standards administration permission can upload standards.
Understanding upload status and error handling
Once you upload a file, each row gets a status showing what happened to it:
| Status | Description |
| Imported | The standard was added successfully. |
| Re-enabled | A matching standard already existed but was disabled — it has been updated and re-enabled. |
| Duplicate | A duplicate of an already-active standard was found in the file, so that row was skipped. |
| Failed | The row is missing an Organisation or Standard, or exceeds the character limit (Organisation: 50, Standard: 300, Description: 5000) — the row is skipped with a clear error message. |
Note:
- Only .csv and .xlsx files are accepted
- Files must not exceed 5 MB
- A corrupt or unreadable file is rejected
- Any failure is shown immediately, and the file is not staged for import
