Customers may encounter issues converting a PowerPoint document to a PDF.
To make troubleshooting this issue easier to learn, this article is split into three sections so that you can either walk through the steps in sequence or you can jump to the section relevant to what you are finding:
1. Issue Experienced
This section will explain what occurs when the customer is experiencing the issue.
The customer noticed that there was a particular document still in the Scheduled Tasks page under Document Automation. When they searched for this document in Ideagen Quality Management, it was found to be a large (153MB) PPT document that was being converted to a PDF. We confirmed that memory usage during this time for the Ideagen Quality Management Service never dropped below 90%.
2. Resolution
This section will provide the resolution for the PPT documents failing to convert to a PDF.
- There were three issues identified with the PowerPoint document. One was the size of the document, another was the identification of embedded Excel files, and invisible on-slide content.
- There were not any errors in the Ideagen Quality Management logs. We believe this is because the Windows server recognized the Ideagen Quality Management service as causing the issue when attempting to convert this document and shut down the activity.
- We had to remove the PDF conversion task from the Scheduled Tasks page via the Remove option. This option was present because technically the task never produced an error, and the task was not finished.
