1. Question
Why would garbled or encrypted text show when opening a document from Ideagen Quality Management with the Automatic File Transfer tool?
2. Answer
If you are seeing garbled or encrypted text in the document that opens with the Auto File Transfer (AFT) tool it is opening with Word directly. This can be caused by accidentally associating the transfer files (QTXML) with Microsoft Word, instead of with Ideagen Quality Management Auto File Transfer. This is simple to resolve:
- Attempt to check out a document from Ideagen Quality Management.
- Go to Windows File Explorer and click Downloads.
- Locate any Auto File Transfer (QTXML) file, and right-click on it.
- Select Open With and select Choose Default Program.
- It's going to produce a list of Default Programs you don't want. Click Browse.
- From there, navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Ideagen Quality Management, Inc\Ideagen Quality Management Automatic File Transfer\
- Select the AFT tool and click OK.
- Click OK to close.
- Try to check out a document again - it should work as expected.
