How to Address AFT Tool Issues Where the Prompt Briefly Opens and Closes

Customers may encounter issues when trying to use the Automatic File Transfer (AFT) tool where the prompt to check in or out a document briefly opens and then closes.
To make troubleshooting this issue easier to learn, this article is split into three sections so that you can either walk through the steps in sequence or you can jump to the section relevant to what you are finding:
1. Issue Experienced
This section will explain what occurs when the customer is experiencing the issue.
The customer will have noticed the AFT tool flickers on the screen and then closes. The document is not downloaded and not marked as checked out. This can be due to an outdated version of the tool installed, an unsupported browser being used, antivirus interference, or the user has insufficient permissions to the working folder.
2. Resolution
This section will provide the resolution for the issues with the AFT tool.
- The first step we recommend is to uninstall and reinstall the AFT tool. Also, confirm the browser and version of the browser being used.
- If this doesn't resolve the issue, have the user check the permissions for the working folder. They would need to have read, write, and modify. (We'd prefer them to have Full Control, but this might not be allowed.
- If they are still having issues, have IT check the antivirus tool they are using. The AFT tool may need to be added as a safe application.
