How to Address Issues Creating Documents Due to Invalid Paths

On-Premise customers may encounter issues when trying to create a document. Hosted customers may experience a similar issue, but this will be due to the temporary folder on the web server being named incorrectly or not existing.
To make troubleshooting this issue easier to learn, this article is split into three sections so that you can either walk through the steps in sequence or you can jump to the section relevant to what you are finding:
1. Issue Experienced
This section will explain what occurs when the customer is experiencing the issue.
The customer will have noticed that after they have uploaded a new file on the create document page and when they click to create the document, the screen refreshes but does not have any success messages. This is usually due to the path for the documents being incorrect.
2. Resolution
This section will provide the resolution for the document failing to create.
- The first thing to look at will be the error logs from Ideagen Quality Management to see if there are any errors around creating documents.
- Navigate to the Administration>System Settings>Document Control tab and check the four document locations listed. (If on a newer version where these have been moved for security, they will need to be changed in the SY_Configuration table on the SQL database.)
- If changes are made to these paths in System Settings, the site should recognize the change immediately.
