How to Address Issues Putting a Workflow Definition Online (Not Viewable or Editable)

Customers may encounter issues putting a workflow definition online after editing it.
To make troubleshooting this issue easier to learn, this article is split into three sections so that you can either walk through the steps in sequence or you can jump to the section relevant to what you are finding:
1. Issue Experienced
This section will explain what occurs when the customer is experiencing the issue.
The customer will have noticed they receive red errors when trying to put a workflow definition online.
2. Resolution
This section will provide the resolution for putting a definition online.
There is a defect that occurs when you copy or clone a workflow definition and edit it. The WF_ResponsibleParties table in the SQL Database has the StateFieldId from the original workflow and not the new workflow.
There are two ways to resolve the issue:
- Check the routes from other steps that might lead back into the affected ones and be sure that the personnel custom fields are viewable and editable.
- Remove and re-add the personnel custom fields that the red errors reference.
