1. Question
How do subform fields work when one field is used as the Inbox Display Field for a workflow definition?
2. Answer
- If the subform used to generate the Inbox Display Field is not viewable and editable until a later step, what is used as the Inbox Display Field up until the point that subform is filled out? - This should work the same as a non-subform field used for Inbox Display Field. If the field is not populated, then the workflow instance inbox item displays "New Instance." If the field is populated bc it was editable in a previous step but it is not viewable in the current step, the Inbox Display Field value is displayed in the inbox item.
- If the Parent Workflow uses a field from a subform as the Inbox Display Field and the Parent launches a Child that uses a subform field as the Inbox Display Field as well, what would be expected behavior for what the Child would show in the Inbox? - If the same subfield from the same subform is used as Inbox Display Field for both parent and child, then the value in that subfield is displayed in both. - If two different subfields from the same subform are used as Inbox Display Field for parent and child, then the value of the subfield used as IDF for parent is displayed for that parent inbox item and the value of the other subfield used as IDF for child is displayed for that child inbox item.
- If multiple rows of a subform are entered in the same Instance, is the first field that is entered used in the Inbox Display Field? - Yes, row 1's subfield value will be used
