1. Question
What is the purpose of the Incoming folder on the web server?
2. Answer
The folder acts as a temporary storage location. If a user uploads a file to Ideagen Quality Management on the create document page, the file gets stored in the Incoming folder. As soon as they click "Create Document" we move it to the published folder and removes the file from incoming. If a user cancels the create document after uploading the file, the file will stay in the incoming folder until our service that cleans up those directories clears it out.
Example Scenarios:
Files going in:
- Using the file upload control when replacing a document.
- Workflow diagrams are stored in {TempPath}\WorkflowDiagrams.
- Files uploaded using AFT, HFMUT, Manual File Transfer.
- Using the file upload control on the create document page.
- Uploading external files in workflows/personnel custom fields.
Files getting removed:
- Ideagen Quality Management Directory Cleaner System Action ran via scheduled task.
- Anytime after a new document is created. Once the document is created, the incoming file is copied to published and the incoming one is deleted. This could be the Create Doc Page, uploading to external file fields in workflows/personnel custom fields, uploading training attachments, etc.
