What Needs to be Changed When an IP Address and Server Name Changes?

To make answering this question easier, this article is split into three sections so that you can either walk through the steps in sequence or you can jump to the section relevant to what you are looking for:

What needs to be changed when the web server's IP address or the name changes?
2. Answer
Ideagen Quality Management IP Changes:
- Mail and SQL servers often require that the IP for the web server is whitelisted for mail relay and/or network access to SQL and mail servers.
- IP's should not be be used in in URLs to access Ideagen Quality Management in general, but if they are, users will need to be advised to update their URLs and the System Settings > Web tab should be updated with the new URL in order to prevent issues with links generated in Ideagen Quality Management.
- If a fully qualified domain name is used to to access Ideagen Quality Management in its URL, then the DNS entry may need to be updated to point at the new machine name depending on configuration.
Ideagen Quality Management Server Name Changes:
- If the machine name of the Ideagen Quality Management web server is used in the URL to access Ideagen Quality Management the settings will need to be changed. Update the URL in the System Settings > Web tab with the new URL in order to prevent issues with links generated in Ideagen Quality Management.
- If a fully qualified domain name is used to to access Ideagen Quality Management in its URL, then the DNS entry may need to be updated to point at the new machine name depending on configuration.
