1. Question

What would cause an error when upgrading Ideagen Quality Management? 

There was an error while updating to DB version 194. Error: The path is not of a legal form.

This error will be shown in the upgrade log and should show in the tool as well.

2. Answer 

There are two potential causes for this issue.

1. The path might be incorrect for the 'Path to Ideagen Quality Management Web Install Directory' within the upgrade tool. Double-check this in the SQL database via the SY_Configuration table and compare to the folders in the Windows Explorer tool.
2. Permissions might be blocking access to the ProgramData path for Ideagen Quality Management. Make sure the path has the Ideagen Quality Management Application Pool account with full control (C:\Program Data\Ideagen Quality Management\Default). Double-check the settings in the configuration file are correct and match the SQL database.
