1. Question
Could another server be used to set up the Indexing task for Ideagen Quality Management?
2. Answer
Yes, in the uncommon situation that the current web (application) server's memory is overwhelmed by the Indexing task, it could be set up on another server.
What is Needed:
- A second fully installed Ideagen Quality Management server (this is not a server that should ever be used by the customer, i.e. logging in and making changes.).
- The most recent SQL database backup possible.
How to Implement it:
- Restore your recent database backup as a second database.
- Point your secondary Ideagen Quality Management server to the current live document repository.
- Point your secondary Ideagen Quality Management server to the back up of the database.
- Login to secondary Ideagen Quality Management and remove ALL scheduled tasks except for the indexer task.
- If you copied the qualtrax.config from the production server to secondary then you must ensure the URL under Web Settings is updated to the secondary server as well as the database connection information.
- Run the Ideagen Quality Management service (removing all other scheduled tasks ensure this secondary server will only try to index and nothing else).
- Once indexing is complete you must copy the completed DocumentIndex (minus the temp folder) and the completed WorkflowIndex (minus the temp folder) to the respective directories on the production server.
- Each time you want to run a new index you must take a new database backup and restore again.
